Sirius II - Fixed Star Astrological Talisman
Sirius - Fixed Star Astrological Talisman
"[Sirius] One part juniper juice with wormwood and bistort and a little serpent's tongue put under a golden beryl, grants the favor of the spirits of the air and the peoples of the earth, and brings peace and concord between kings and other potentates, and between husbands and wives." - BM Bodleian MS. 52, 'Hermes on the 15 Fixed Stars'
Modeled by hand in hard carvers wax, and lost-wax cast in fine silver. An image of the crown of Sothis [Sopdet], the egyptian star goddess who personified the Dog Star. The horns flank the behenian fixed star glyph of Sirius. Centered is a 4.5ct raw Golden Beryl. On the reverse is engraved the egyptian hieroglyph of 'Sothis'.
The Sirius fixed star talisman was cast on Feb 25, 2018 at 8:44pm EST: Sirius culminating on the midheaven at 14° cancer. A second quarter waxing moon, dignified by domicile, and of fast speed, applies to a bodily conjunction with sirius within one degree. The casting of the talisman was accompanied by petitions and suffumigation borrowing heavily from the protocols of planetary magic as put forth in medieval astrological texts [Picatrix, De Imaginibus, etc]. Post-casting, equal parts juniper, wormwood, bistort (dragonwort), and viper's tongue were deposited into the talisman through the gem setting; and sealed with the prong-set golden beryl.
"Under the greater dog star, they made the image of a hound.. it bestoweth honor and good will, and the favor of men, and Aerial spirits, and giveth power to pacify and reconcile kings, princes, and other men." -Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, Three Books of Occult Philosophy, Book II Chapter IXVII
The Sirius Fixed Star Astrological Talisman includes a 20" sterling silver chain, and arrives in a black leatherette pendant box.
